The Green Parakeet is a part of the Birds themed collection.
Also known as the Budgerigar or Budgie, the Green Parakeet (Melopsittacus undulatus) is a small parrot native to the central deserts of Australia. In the wild, they form flocks of thousands and travel together in search of food and water. When they were domesticated, parakeets quickly became one of the most popular pet birds, especially for their ability to mimic human speech. They are clever and sociable birds, and breeding in captivity has produced many new parakeet colours including blue, yellow, white, grey and violet - although only green ones are found in the wild.
